About Root Foundry

Technical expertise meets practical design for local businesses.

The Background

My background is technical, not design-school. I spent the bulk of my career in IT — mostly helpdesk work — with time in application development and engineering along the way. That mix gave me a practical, problem-solving lens: less "make it pretty," more "make it actually work, and work well."

Somewhere in there I also did a stint of freelance graphic design, which is where the other half came from — learning what makes something look intentional, not just functional.

The Approach

Root Foundry is where all of that comes together. I handle both the technical build and the visual design myself, so there's no handoff between "the developer" and "the designer" — just one person who's done both, working with you directly from start to finish.

Who It's For

I started Root Foundry to work with small and medium-sized local businesses — the kind who need something that works and looks right, without being overbuilt or overpriced. For a lot of these businesses, this isn't a side project — it's their livelihood, and I treat it that way.

The Vision

This is still early days for Root Foundry, and that's by design — I'd rather grow slowly with clients I actually do right by than take on more than I can give real attention to.

Long term, I want Root Foundry to be known as the go-to for local businesses that need more than just a website — the kind of ongoing partner who handles the tech side so the business owner can focus on running their business.
